If its an EFI outboard, E free all the time, carbed, run ethanol, I've never had any problems out of my mere 200, carb. 12 years so far.
I would use what your engine specifications require for octane, put an additive in like sea foam every time you fill up, and fill up from a reputable station like mobile, BP, Sunoco, etc. presuming that you are trailering your boat.
