Just a heads-up. On a recent trip to Chicago for the America's Cup, my generator started to steam and lacked the usual cooling water exiting the boat and wound up sitting down. I checked the strainer and it was clean so I opened the sea cock and nothing came into the boat. This signaled that there was a blockage on the outside so I jumped in the water (after overnighting a wetsuit from Amazon) and found that the intake had a lovely piece plastic bag sucked into it. My advice is to keep a wetsuit, flippers and mask on board just in case...
