Mercury engine, keeps shredding serpentine belts. 4 different mechanics have not solved it. Appears to start walking at the water pump but have already changed that out, plus added new idler pulley. Have also used straight edge to align. Just checking in case anyone else might have encountered the same mystery.

The tension must be correct. Mine is manually set and verified per the FSM.

The belt and pulleys must be correct (match) each other.

It’s the crank shaft pulley the hub in the middle walks replace the pulley and u will be all set common issue
