2004 460 Sundance has a bilge pump in the bilge under the mid stateroom which is accessed via a hatch cover when the sofa bed is moved forward.  Where is the bilge water coming from??

There is a leak, either from the onboard freshwater system, from rain water ingress, from gray water like the shower drain or from a salt water leak. My guess is that the salt water is not entering through the hull, so ID the leak.

I had water in the bilge of a 2000 410. Turned out it was coming from the AC unit.

we have a 420AC and had the same issue; it turned out to be the grey water from the shower. easy fix

May want to check if the water heater is leaking.

Same boat. That bilge pump float has an alarm in my boat. Rarely have any water in that bilge compartment but it would come from from main sump overflow or water heater as suggested.

Jaws,
Mine has an alarm also. Given the large limber hole in the bulkhead aft of the sump (which had been leaking but is now fixed), I think the sump overflow is the most logical answer. The water heater checked out fine. Unfortunately, the float switch was loaded with grunge because we never knew it even existed so the pump was not activated and the water came forward thru the limber hole when the boat was decelerating. Thanks for the input!

On mine, the shower / AC sump box is disassembled for an annual cleaning to ensure proper operation.

I installed an inspection port on the lid so I can clean it without removing the lid, which has 8 very difficult-to-reach bolts requiring one to be a contortionist. Your sump is much different from mine and looks more user friendly.

Yes, my Rule shower sump lid is retained w/ four Phillips head screws.

The main sump under the salon floor has eight bolts with a plexi cover with labels. I placed eight S.S., wing nuts for easy access. (Also installed a ship's light in the area for working). I drain and clean the sump twice a season and never get any overflow to the other sump under the mid cabin electric couch. Still the original Rule pumps. I find that I am able to get at the main sump; perhaps yours is placed in a more difficult spot.
