The performance, innovation and technology of the Mercury Racing 500R outboard continues to garner attention and awards from the marine industry, with the most recent recognition coming from Boating Industry magazine.
The 500R high-performance outboard made the list of 50 of the “marine industry’s best new and innovative products” announced on May 1 by the editors of Boating Industry magazine, a leading business publication for marine industry professionals. Products were selected based on their impact on the boating industry, innovation and advancement of a product category.
It’s the latest accolade for the 500R, adding to a tally that includes Innovation Awards from Boating Magazine and the National Marine Manufacturers Association/Miami International Boat Show earlier this year.
In selecting the 500R for inclusion in its Top Products list, Boating Industry noted that Mercury Racing “elevated its outboard engine power and technology with the supercharged 4.6L V8 500R.” The editors also cited its class-leading power-to-weight ratio and hailed the 500R as a “powerhouse full of technological advancements.”
Those innovations include the 500R’s exclusive Advanced Racing Core (ARC) midsection, which enhances the engine’s durability and performance. The 500R also features a new attenuator and throttle body design for improved airflow. Its exclusive Humidity Compensation Technology enables the 500R to optimize performance across varying atmospheric conditions.
The R-Drive gearcase of the 500R is available in two versions to accommodate different boating applications, R-Drive and R-Drive Sport, that support Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), Adaptive Speed Control and SmartCraft® features. The engine is available in four gearcase lengths and can be installed on new boats or used for repower applications.
