You can use both but ethanol free gas is preferred. Ethanol when it sits in your system will start deteriorating your hoses and fuel system.

I have an 2017 SPX inboard and i leave it trimmed all the way down and never touch it. If i raise it just a hair it doesnt run right so i just leave it.

I got 27 hours on mine and havent seen any yet. At least you have a five year warranty take it back to dealer.
