2022-Anniversary-R50-Color-Low-Res.pngMercury Racing launched its 50-year anniversary with a special event highlighting five decades of Wide Open performance on the eve of the Miami International Boat Show. The night featured the introduction of the new V10 400R outboard and Ventera performance propeller, and the announcement of year-long activities scheduled to highlight the Mercury Racing 50th Anniversary and its legacy of innovation and the passionate pursuit of power.

Looking Back
The Mercury Marine Hi-Performance Products Department was established in 1973 to provide amateur and professional boat racers with a complete marine racing center. Successive generations of outboard, sterndrive and performance products have served racers and passionate performance pleasure boaters. Today the Mercury Racing brand represents the pinnacle of marine power and performance.

Throughout the year Mercury Racing will note its history through a commemorative logo, a special heritage web page highlighting the company's historic milestones, and a variety of interactive digital and in-person experiences—celebrating five decades of high performance and power.

The 50th Anniversary celebration will reach its pinnacle in Sheboygan, Wis., on August 11-13, with the Mercury Racing Midwest Challenge, a festival featuring the top categories of U.S. powerboat racing including the UIM Class 1 World Championship, F1 Powerboat Championship, and various offshore racing classes competing along the Lake Michigan waterfront.

Unleashing the 400R
Mercury Racing delivers more outboard performance punch with the introduction of the all-new Mercury Racing V10 400R model. Designed primarily to power performance center console boats and catamarans to speeds well beyond 75 mph, the V10 400R offers more power and a higher RPM range than any outboard in this category. A host of exclusive Mercury Racing features further enhance the experience of piloting a Wide Open performance powerboat.

The Mercury Racing 400R features a new naturally aspirated V10 5.7-liter (349 CID) powerhead that is based on the proven design architecture of the V8 4.6-liter Mercury Racing 300R model. The 64-degree powerhead displaces the 5.7 liters while maintaining the compact width required for 26-inch center-to-center mounting on multi-engine transoms for seamless installations on new boats and repower applications. The Mercury Racing V10 400R will be available in four lengths – 20", 25", 30" and 35" – to accommodate any single or multi-engine performance application.

The new Mercury Racing® Ventera™ propeller is designed to handle big outboard horsepower on the fastest high-performance center consoles, day cruisers and bay boats. Exclusive to the Mercury Racing Profile Series, this four-blade propeller was engineered specifically to carry more load with greater efficiency at high speeds and in semi-surfacing applications. It’s especially effective when paired with Mercury Racing V10 400R and V8 450R outboards equipped with the 5.44 HD gearcase.
