Hi everyone, all the gauges on my boat work except the speedometer.  Does anyone have a recommendation for testing if the issue is the gauge itself or the sensor in the water?  Cheers! Louis

Year and model of boat would help, some Speedos are just a simple tube from out drive that measure water pressure, they do get clogged.

Check the outdrive - there is a port in the front of the unit jest above the lower gear housing that has a small hole - Maybe 1/8 inch - Often this hole is covered with bottom paint. Get a small drill bit and gently clean it out. Another issue I have had in the past is that the mechanics that service the lower unit fail to reinstall the vinyl tubing that goes from the lower unit to the transom. This his tubing has a plastic fitting on the end that twists into the lower unit.
You can test the gauge by gently apply air to the tubing referred to above. Be careful doing this because too much pressure can damage the gauge. Check the other two items first.
