I have a 2001 240 Sundancer with a 5.0 Mercruiser. While cruising at approx 26mph she suddenly loses power and I can’t get her over 10mph. This happens from time to time. Anyone know what might be happening here?
sounds like a fuel issue. have you changed the fuel filters? could be a number of fuel issues that you will have to track down. Start simple and progress. look for water in tank, fuel pump, bad hoses etc.
Mechanic at my marina started digging and found that 2 of the pistons weren’t firing at all, they lost contact and as a result we kept losing compression. Not sure that was the ONLY issue so we decided to replace the long block and remove the “guessing” as to what the causes might be.
