I never use the drain hose. I vacuum out the oil. Much cleaner for me. I don't want to climb in and out of my engine room more than I have to. Though I have twins in a 290 sundancer. Less room.
When I went to look at one of those that I was interested in. The owner used a battery jump pack and the cigarette/ 12volt power plug to open the hatch. Said he had been doing so for years.
My old dock neighbors had the exact same boat and had it replaced. Any cabinet maker would be able to replace it for you and almost any finish Carpenterwould be able to do it as well
