I bought a 1973 Sea Ray SRV200. Very nice solid boat, excellent interior plus a GPS and other stuff. I bought this is MI and brought it home to WI. It was currently registered in MI. WI is telling me that the HIN doesn;t conform to USCG specs. I agree with them but for now have declined their offer to issue a state HIN instead. The HIN on the boat is SERMO2446M 73K. By USCG standards it should read SERM2446M 73K. I have no idea why it is this way. It must of been legal at some point otherwise it never could of sold when new. You see my dilemma. I'm at a complete loss and hope that someone can shed light on why Sea Ray would do this. I'd of added a pic of the HIN in question but failed.
