We have a '96, 45 Dancer, but the v berth and cabin sound like an echo chamber when we're trying to sleep. The slapping of the water is horrible!

anyone have any ideas how to "insulate" the hull?

You will find that the 450DA is already extremely well insulated with carpeting, padded wall covering and padded headliner. I don't know what else one could reasonably do to quieten the water slapping noise.

The main reason is that the water hitting the hull is like hitting a drum head. The sound is telegraphed through out the boat. Some people find the slapping noise restful while others find it random and noisy. Like you, I fall into the latter category and handle it by sleeping with ear plugs.

White or pink noise in background! Or try one of those wave sound devices. For me if it's too quiet I will wake at the slightest sound but if I go to sleep with a faint radio or consistent wave noise I can sleep through a hurricane! ;0)
