I have a 23 pitch prop great for speed but want to pull a tube any suggestions on prop pitch I have a 21 just not really sure don't want to hurt the motor.
The lower the pitch, the higher your WOT RPMs will be. Just be sure that at wide open you are hitting the minimum top RPM for your engine. Any dealer selling props should be able to advise you on what works for your HP and boat weight.
I have a 21p on our 185. Pulls a tube fine and jumps up on plane much better than the 19p that was on the boat. WOT is 4600 but I rarely take it that high.
Altitude makes a difference as well. We have a 190 with a 4.3 lltr and run a 19 degree prop. We are in the mile high city Denver CO . Works great for skiing and tubing.
Get your WOT rpms from a verified tach, along with gps speed. Calculate prop slip and compare to specs for your engine. That will give insight into what a 21 will do.
