SeaRay 280 Bowrider throttle upgrade

I have a 'new to me' 280 bowrider (2001 vintage).  The throttle is a bit sloppy, and likely needs cable work. Before I take it in and pay for that, wanted to know if I can upgrade a digital throttle system (boat by wire)?

Good luck w/ your new boat.

Assuming the boat remains w/ a cable throttle that gets repaired, also inspect where it is connected at both ends for slop.

Inspect the throttle control at the helm and the throttle cam at the engine throttle body. Also inspect for loose connections at those locations.
