We have a 1996 175XL.  I need to replace a couple of screws holding the rub rail to the hull.  Does anyone know if the rubber part can be pulled out and then popped back into place (perhaps with a rubber mallet)?  Or, does it have to be slid into the metal channel, which would mean the entire hard rubber part would have to be removed.

Pretty sure you pull it out. Putting back in old rubber probably not happening. Can purchase new from number of sources. Then will be flexible enough to reinstall.
