SR Fams,2007 310 Sundancer. Door...

SR Fams,

2007 310 Sundancer. Door from cockpit to cabin is becoming harder to open and close. Any ideas on what could be wrong and instructions on how to replace any parts. I want to tackle this one if I can.

i know this is an issue with these doors and how SR designed it, it could be a challenge to replace any parts.

The issue is frequently the door trucks.

They can accumulate crud. The tracks can also accumulate crud.

They can also fail, loosing one or more of the four wheels per truck. The wheels can also fail to rotate freely.

On mine, a garden hose is used for a quick / easy cleaning, no disassembly required

The process for careful disassembly is a required skill. Ensure that the door(s) are protected from damage, as they are made from Unobtainium.

The trucks are available from Flounder Pounder Marine. Note that there are three heights available. Always replace w/ the same height trucks.

Keeping spare trucks is a good idea.

Before pulling everything apart because it is a job. I got a wire and rag and clean the tracks just like wingless said. Then I sprayed the track. With good old WD 40. From the inside and with the door closed you can spray the truck wheels. I have to do this twice a season but I think it is easier than pulling the door out. Don’t forget top and bottom tracks.

Heading to the boat now... I’ll try a good cleaning before taking it apart.
