They don't make them like they used to.

We have a 29' 08 Amberjack. Had been using the O.E. anchor until the rode broke due to age. Bought another Kodiak and the shank bent making it unusable after the second use when we anchored in sand in a light chop. We're looking for a different anchor that will fit the roller setup in the Amberjack. Have tried a different plow but the point of the plow hit the hull. Has anyone had success with an anchor other than the Southcoast Kodiak?

The 2008 29' Amberjack OEM anchor looks like the standard galvanized plow anchor that Sea Ray put onto most of their boats in that size range.

On my boat, I was disappointed more often than happy w/ the OEM anchor, so I switched to a Fortress FX-37. I followed their selection guide and went two sizes larger for storm conditions. My Fortress anchor saved my butt / boat more than one time.

Wingless, I've tried a standard plow anchor, the point of the plow hits the hull. I think the shank on the O.E is somewhat different I hoping an Amberjack owner has found an anchor that fits.

I purchase a Fortress anchor for my 27' Sundancer, did it for several reasons. The angle of the flukes can be easily changed for different bottom conditions. Second it physically is a lighter anchor, as my crew is my wife and 11 year old. It sets and holds super easy. Hope that helps!!
