Swim platform - I have a 2000 SeaRay 240 Sun Deck

The lid covering my ladder is coming loose. The screws that hold the hinge in place on the platform itself are coming out. Apparently there is a cavity behind them that is quite open and nothing to hold the screws. Thinking of filling the cavity with some sort of glue but want advice first.

I have found this issue in several places on my SDX. If I use a flat head screw driver to hold / tension the head of the bolt all the way out, I can usually get the nut (inside the cavity) to hold against the inside while I slowly tighten the bolt. The design is odd but you might want to try this method before putting glue in the cavity. Good luck!
