I have a 1990 Amberjack. She has twin MerCruiser outdrive. Power steering pump runs off of the port engine. When I am trolling I will occasionally run and just the starboard engine. In this mode the power steering pump is not operating. Does anyone have experience or know if running without the power steering pump is a problem? I am going idle speed and I’m making occasional steering course turns and corrections. Does steering without the power steering pump operating, put extra pressure on the fluid cables that’s possibly causing them to leak?
