Hello.

I recently purchased a 2020 SDX 270 OB. Minor problem but I can't seem to figure out a way to position the covers so that pooling does not occur in both the bow and cockpit covers. If anyone has any suggestions on how to resolve this I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Ken

Welcome to the forum.

The issue appears to be the shallow slope of the canvas.

Placement of stuff under the canvas, such as cushions, life jackets or inflatable toys will change the shape of the cover, to change the drainage.

When I designed the custom cover for my dinghy I used tall bent bows to get the water to shed properly. I just remove and stow those bows (straight when unused) when using the dinghy.

Also, for the cockpit area, it might be possible to add reinforced grommets to pass a pull up line to the overhead top, to change the cover drainage.

Hi Wingless and thanks for the help. The cover is completely free of any obstructions under it and it already has a grommet setup. I was just thinking I might have to figure out a way to support the areas where the pooling is occurring - possible with additional poles. Not really sure if that will work either as the areas needing the support are over cushions and I would not want to damage the cushion with the pool. Appreciate any ideas.

Something like this rod underneath the canvas, pushing up from the floor into a reinforced grommet is another option.

Just unscrew the cushions and flip them upside down prior to using the pole. The bottom of the cushion is probably coated marine plywood, that would resist continuous force by the pole.

If going that route then industrial adhesive backed Velcro could be substituted for screws for acceptable cushion retention, for usage, except when highway trailering.

Excellent wingless – will attempt to do exactly that. Thanks again for the help.

Another question – I have removable Sea Decking on the boat. How often do I need to remove the Sea Deck and clean under it. I tend to overkill the cleaning but that is going to be a bit of a job so I don’t want to needlessly remove/clean/replace. Thanks

Here are the MFG instructions for cleaning. They don't discuss removal. Maybe a direct contact to them will help.
