My 1996 BR210 signature series...

My 1996 BR210 signature series just developed a metal scrapping noise in my Alpha one out drive when shifting from forward to neutral then to reverse, the reserve fluid is full and it runs fine in forward. Any suggestions?

It could be a bad shift cable. Any idea on if it has been replaced in the past or if it is original? If original, it's probably time for replacement. You will always have the "clunk" of shifting into gear from neutral with the Alpha drives, but it shouldn't sound like metal scrapping.

Jordan, the marina where I bought the boat did all the maintenance for the previous owner, thanks for the tip I will ask them if it has been replaced.

No worries. 🙂

The noise will likely be the synchro gear in upper unit wearing down
But can’t hurt to make sure cable is adjusted properly
