2003 Amberjack 290. Issue with...

2003 Amberjack 290.  Issue with STBD fuel tank guage.   Fuel gauge reads correctly when first powering up/starting engine.   While underway, the needle is all over the place, sometimes reading Empty, 1/2 or 1/4 full, etc.  I can confirm that i had approx. 3/4 of a tank.   Just filled the tank to the brim and see same behavior. 

I was told that this could be a poor electrical connection to the float switch in the tank.   Where is the float switch located and HOW can it be accessed? There is NO clearance between the floorboards and tank to confirm, let alone make a repair.

There will be an access port in your cabin above the sender unit. I suspect it will be under your aft berth cushions along the centerline of the boat. Mine is in that loacation on a 270 Sundancer.

Thanks. I found it under the helm seat, where there is a porthole access on the floor that is above the sending unit.
