Anode Replacement Question: for a 2001 280 SS w/bravo 3

I have Mercathode system on the boat with the anode affixed to the outdrive. I want to replace the other anodes including: 1)  the horseshoe shaped one on the bottom rear of the cavitation plate; 2) the round one above the prop on the cavitation plate; 3) the two on the lift arms (lift rams); and 4) the cone on the prop nose. I don't know if they are zinc but they are worn. I operate in fresh water and want to replace the existing with Magnesium anodes.

My questions:

1- What is the Mercathode anode made out of (zinc, magnesium or aluminum)?

2- If it's zinc will it be destroyed if I change the others to magnesium?

3- Do I need to change the Mercathode anode if I change the others?

4- Can Mercathode anode be replaced without buying the whole Mercathode system? Seems to be a common shape...

Thanks

Dennis

I always replace all of the anodes, it's cheap maintenance. It'll keep the outdrives from getting all pitted. Use Magnesium for freshwater.
