Fresh water flush

I have a new to me 2007 340 Sundancer with low hours and the 8.1 Mercruisers are running good.  But when I went to connect a fresh water hose to the installed Mercruiser flush kit, water came gushing out of the Quick-connect socket.  I had the Quick connect plug seated properly and this happened on both engines.  Anyone know if this is normal until I start the engines or where I can get just the Quick-connect sockets?  P/N 898235A02 Thanks

I believe there is supposed to be an "O" ring around the quick disconnect male. There around but hard to find. Bring the plug when you go to the hardware store.

Thanks, although it happens on both connections that could be it as it is a pretty simple set up. I may just change to a regular hose quick disconnect.
