I have a 1991 weekender 280 and my refrigerator just died. Can anyone tell me what size (cubic footage) Norcold refrigerator was on boats from this era? I looked at my spec sheet, but I couldn’t find anything on it.

thanks.

Yank the 'fridge and measure the salon cabinet.

Get a unit that fits into the existing cabinet from a major manufacturer. There are several great options, but start with one that is a terrific fit.

It should have a Danfoss compressor.

Many really "smart" people talk about disassembling a brand new refrigerator so it will fit through the doorway into the salon. My preference is instead to disassemble the doorway and other boat parts, to the larger opening as when the boat was built, then slide the fully intact new refrigerator though into the salon.

When I replaced mine it required minor modifications to the boat cabinet and to the new refrigerator to attain a perfect fit. Others instead added a spacer around the perimeter, so it would protrude into the galley by an inch. That doesn't work for me and my boat.

When I replaced my 'fridge controller, I also installed a diagnostic LED visible from the salon so I could see error code flashes w/o having to yank the 'fridge.
