The pitot tube from the water to the speedometer must be empty, must be sealed and must be free of leaks.

Disconnect tube from speedometer, blow dry and securely reattach to speedometer.

Thanks Wingless!! When you say the tube must be sealed what seals it and where? Or could it have come off the thing in the water?

The pitot tube has one end immersed in water at the transom.

That tube cannot have any holes (leaks) from the end in the water up to the fitting on the speedometer.

The fitting on the speedometer cannot leak.

All of the water in the tube must be blown out. The tube must instead be filled with air.

This link shows the system.

The tube must be secured along the length to only and always slope downhill, from the speedometer to the pitot tube.

The tube cannot have sags that will permit water to collect.

Ok. Thank you again for your help!! I might have moved it when I was working on the leak.
