I recently purchased a 1991 Sea Ray 260 OV that came with a relatively new sunbrella convertible top and cockpit cover.  I tried putting the top up using the installation guide and could not get the top to snap in.  The convertible snaps would not reach the ones on the windscreen.  It seems that the convertible top somehow shrank so the snaps are off the mark.  I think it is the top since the location of the snaps are correct for the cockpit cover.  I didn't want to tear the top.  Does anyone know how to relax the sunbrella so it can fit?  All suggestions are appreciated.  Thank you.

The question only needs to be posted once.

The shrinking is a one way operation. The only option is to use Mr Peabody's WABAC machine.

The Extend a Snap give 3/4" of extension.

Other options require a sewing machine or a snap tool to modify the existing part. Another option is to have a local canvas company modify the canvas to make it fit.

Don’t know the exact configuration of your 91, but if the top is supported by a metal bar, have you tried releasing the tension by removing the pins that hold the bar in place, then stretching the canvas to see if the snaps reach, then (you’ll likely need a second set of hands,) stretching the pole back into position and re-inserting the pins?
