Removing carpet snaps in boat deck?...

Removing carpet snaps in boat deck? When I bought my 2006 Sundancer 320 used, the carpet kit for the cockpit was long gone. Now I keep stepping on the snaps embedded in the deck. If I take them out, is there something designed to fill the holes that will look/feel good? Any help appreciated.

The Marine-Tex epoxy putty would work well for that application.

Thanks, Wingless, I'll check it out. Do you know if this is done often? While I don't like stepping on the snaps, I'd hate to screw up my eventual resale by removing them...

Yes, I step on my snaps often.

IMO, it is your boat, make it work for your usage.

The exact snap placement location is not important. The replacement carpet does not have snaps installed. The snaps are installed to match the placement on the individual boat.

Or, just select a nice replacement carpet. There are lots of options, here is one.

The reason yours is gone is because the OEM carpet had a backing that disintegrated and bonded black specs onto the deck. The aftermarket carpeting has a better backing.
