Desperate for a replacement part….

My 2020 SLX 350 OB has been down for 4 months now, due to this part failing: Mercury Part # “JPO Steering Assembly 8M0123581”. Nobody in the country seems to have it and there seems to be no end in sight. At this point I’d be happy to buy a used part to get me going. Anyone have any ideas?

Really bad news that the part is not available.

Is it possible to rebuild the failed part sufficiently to permit normal operation?

I’ve talked to someone who rebuilds Mercury steering assemblies. He said there are no parts available to rebuild the one I need (the ones that work in conjunction with the joy stick). I’ve discovered you’re completely screwed if this part fails.

I searched my usual sources and could not find one for you either. What about a boat salvage yard? With the recent hurricanes, there has to be a used part somewhere, just a matter of finding it.
