Hello. I have a 1986 Sea Ray Weekender 300 and was looking for an explanation of how the fresh water system is configured. I have a 40 gallon pressurized system. There is a connection on the left side of the transom for a fresh water from the dock. How does this fit into the system? Does this fill the holding tank, does it run directly to the water system, should the pump for the system be on or off when using dock water? Is this just another way to fill the water tank?

 I am monitoring how much water I put into the tank and also monitor the discharge at the galley but can't figure how much water ice maker is using! Any suggestions? We don't use the head while in the marina. Thanks Georg

The connection on thecstern of your boat bypasses the fresh water storage tank completely. It by passes the pressure pump as well. Turn the pump off when you are connected to dock water. When filling the water tank, fill it until the water starts flowing out the vent on the side of the boat. Your icemaker uses about 4 cups of water for each cube cycle. Not enough to even worry about. Using the head at the marina? Why not? You aren't pumping sewage overboard are you?

True it won't fill the fresh water tank, however I'll share that I had an issue with a very small leak, drop a minute, and it drove us nuts. With that leak and not being attached to the city water and having the internal water system switch on, the pump would run every 10 minutes to restore lost pressure to the system. All night long bzzzzzt ... replaced the city water Inlet port with new one from Jabsco. All good now. Sleep well now

One of the biggest issues Sea Ray has had over the years are the use of Unifex fresh water hoses and connectors. After a boat is 2 years old they start leaking. The real fix is to cut the connectors off and replace with PVC connector and hose clamp. I have replaced dozens over the years of Sea Ray ownership.
