I’m looking for a prop for high altitudes. Lake granby Colorado. 8200 foot elevation.
I own a 2018 190spx. With a 14.5x17p (prop) stern drive.

What engine do you have? We had a 5.7 ltr mercruiser in our 200 BR and typically used a 17 degree for higher elevations. We changed to a 19 degree prop for 5000 ft elevation and a 21 degree prop for lower elevations. If you have a 4.3 ltr mercruiser in your 190, I would think that a 17 degree prop would be your best bet at 8000 ft. altitude.

If you are running a 3 blade currently and not getting the hole shot, you could consider going to a 4 or 5 blade of the same pitch. I would not go lower than a 17 pitch due to danger of over-revving the engine. We boat at 6200' with a 2015 Sport 190, 4.3 L Mercruiser stern drive, and started with a 3 blade 21 SS. Changed to a 5 blade 19 SS and noticed a lot more hole shot power. Still would like to have more but I don't want to push the over-revving issue. I suggest going to the Mercruiser website and using their Propfinder feature. Plug in your engine details and altitude, and use the lowest pitch they suggest on a SS 5 blade.
