Question about companionway door on 2021 320da

Hello everyone.  I just bought a '21 320da.  The companionway door is difficult to open -- from the closed position, you have to press the thumb button, pull it even more closed, and then push it open.  Often you have to do the pull-push thing a couple times before it opens.  It won't budge if you just try to press the button and slide it open.  You don't have to do this when opening it from the cabin.

Is this something that can be fixed?  Any ideas how to fix it?

Welcome to the forum.

Good luck w/ your new boat.

Not interested in the dealership effecting a warranty repair.

My speculation is either insufficient lubrication within the latch, or that the strike needs to be slightly repositioned.

Thank you. No, I'm happy to take it back to the dealership, but if it's as easy as slopping some lube on the latch, I'd just as soon do it myself...

Thanks for the idea and well wishes.

My guess is it’s something more involved than just lubricating the latch. Mine is easy to open and glides with minimal pressure open. Call dealer.
