1993 Sedan Bridge 550 - want to replace headliner throughout as it is thread bare. Has anyone done this, curious as to what is behind it, replace with fabric or plastic panels, any pics would be great. Thanks!

This only needs to be posted once.

On my 2000 380DA the headliner is made from plywood screwed to fir wood strips around the perimeter for each panel.

The foam-backed headliner fabric is glued to the plywood.

There is not glue at the screw locations. The fabric is tucked at each of those locations, permitting it to be pulled back for removal / replacement.

It is possible to feel through the fabric and through the padding to locate the screw heads. Most are spaced evenly. In several instances screws are also placed an inch apart.

The "easy" solution is to select a headliner fabric, w/ foam backing already attached. I use 3M Super 77 aerosol spray adhesive for headliner attachment. It has worked well for me.

Mine also has matching fabric piping at some corners.

Most just have the fabric tab tucked into the joint.

One some cases I also use hot glue (sparingly) to retain the piping, where required.

No metal brackets required. Sturdier yes, but not a USCG requirement.
