What do you have to start with? I put 3/4" lines all the way around on my 46' Convertible, mostly to compensate for these crazy windstorms we have been getting these last couple of years. On the fenders, I would get comparable sizes to what you have now, assuming that they were giving you enough space for your level of comfort when the boat is pushing hard against the dock.

BTW, where are you located on the chesapeake? I am in Solomons Island.

You want 4 Aere’ fenders. They’re sell a 4 pack with socks and lines. You can also buy separate. These are inflatables, the are super light weight, durable, super easy to use and will last. They are a few extra bucks, but worth it. I have a 51 I have 4 12 x 42, then I will use some Taylor makes in between for extra security.
Keep me posted.

@Robert Robinson boat currently in VA, but will be at Long Beach, Middle River-Baltimore. They’ve vastly upgraded Marina, one of the nicest in the area.

@Robert Robinson - you went to 3/4 from 1/2 or 5/8? What’s biggest reason - peace of mind? What material?

I saw the Taylor made fender recommendation, for me those would be to heavy. But they are good fenders. I still prefer the Aere Fenders, durable, light weight and look great!

@Seth Dunbar The previous owners had 3/4 on my boat to start with, so that was what I replaced it with. I bought the amarine lines from Amazon. See the link below. Probably went a little overkill, but I like the piece of mind knowing that when the wind gets to huffing and puffing, my boat is still tied to the dock. When I am tied for the long term I have a total of 6 lines securing which means three are always tight depending on wind direction.

Gtstang@Robert Robinson bought the same 3/4 lines from anazon. Got starboard engine and transmission back together. Mid-June float north. Any recommendations for overnight marina in Solomon’s?

@Stephen Bowen ordered the Aere fenders. Didn’t have navy in stock so gray on the way. Benefit to owning socks?

Help give the boat a layer of protection and save the gelcoat from dulling

@Seth Dunbar my boat resides at the Solomons Yachting Center here in Solomons. It is the only marinia here that has floating docks. They can accommodate boats up to 110' if I remember correctly.

They also have fuel docks, nice little pub with a pool on the back deck. They provide access to pedal bikes if you want to move around the island without walking, though everything is in walking distance.

Moved our boat yesterday - Yorktown to Annapolis - and today to Middle River, Long Beach Marina. Stopped in Solomon’s for quick top off yesterday - nice area, we will definitely visit in the late summer or fall.
